UNCASVILLE - The East Catholic-Manchester Eagles dominated the Middletown Blue Dragons from start to finish en route to a 62-51 victory in the Class L final.
Junior guard Mike McGuirl scored a game-high 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting. McGuirl dominated on both sides of the ball for all four quarters, with most of his scoring  done in the first half, when he had 12 points. With a 28-17 lead at the break, the Eagles never looked back.
Coming off a a stellar 34-point semifinals game against Windsor High School, Eagles senior Mark Carbone finished with 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting. The win gives the Eagles their fifth state title, and their first since 2014.
The Blue Dragons offense was cold all night, hitting just 37 percent from the field on 16-of-43 shooting.
