Championship Weekend: Intriguing day of High School Field Hockey
All day we saw underdogs prevail in their own right. For the first time in recent years, there was no defending champion in the title game for a chance at a repeat. Instead we saw a No. 7 seed, a No. 1 seed and a No. 6 seed take home the hardware. It was a day for the underdogs. It was a day where belief and effort would not be denied. The day was magic.

This was Notre Dame’s first state title game, but the Lancers did not play like they were wearing the yoke of history. Championship Weekend: Avon and Tolland Fans Enjoy State Titles
Avon walked away from the Class L final with a 3-1 overtime victory over Wethersfield and Tolland did in fact eat bacon, topping Bacon Academy 2-1 to capture Class M at Middletown High. Jack Russo called both matches for NFHS and said these games are always a treat for commentators.Read more »
