UNCASVILLE - It was a storybook ending for Desiree Elmore and company as the Capital Prep Trailblazers captured their fourth consecutive state title with a win against the New London Whalers, 51-48 in the girls Class L final.
Elmore was in foul trouble late in the game, but Trailblazers coach Tammy Millsaps stuck with her senior, who finished with ?eight points and 11 rebounds.
The Whalers had the size against the Trailbazers, but didn’t have the speed to keep up with their opponent’s fast-paced offense. ?The Whalers’ India Pagan was her team’s most consistent player on both ends of the floor, scoring 21 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.
Not only did Elmore secure her fourth state title, she also?became Capital Prep’s all-time leading scorer?with 2,029 points.
