Heading into his sixth season as head coach, Blue Knights’, Charles Lembo, will be without four key players from last seasons team in Ryan DeAngelo, Zac Susi, Brett Shaw, Liam Scafariello (2015 graduates). As always, Lembo does a great job in meshing teams who are always in the running for a state title. Last season, the Blue Knights suffered a 6-3 Class LL semifinals loss to the Amity Spartans who went on to capture their third straight.
Leading the rotation this year for the Southington will be seniors, Drew Farkas (University of Hartford commit) and Garrett Gugliotti. The Blue Knights are currently the No. 6 team in the state according to GameTime CT’s pre-season rankings.
As for the Notre Dame-West Haven Green Knights, who lost to New London in the second round of last year’s Class L state tournament, 2-1, will lean on senior pitcher/outfielder, Dylan Reynolds, who had a stellar 2015 campaign with a .452 batting average and 19 runs batted in, in addition to a 2.62 earned run average. The Green Knights finished the 2015 season with a 18-6 record.
