New Fairfield Girls Basketball star Kristen Teklits captured 46% of the year’s first UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week vote to win the CPTV’s statewide award.
Teklits scored 18 points in Wednesday’s 39-25 win over Danbury in the News-Times Greater Danbury Holiday Festival championship game. The Rebels won the event for the second-consecutive year. Kristen contributed 13 points in Monday’s first round matchup vs. New Milford. The 6-0 Rebels dominated Watertown 51-28 on the road, Friday.
Host Frankie Graziano interviewed Teklits which you can watch in the above video player, available on-air and online at cptv.org. She discussed her recent entry into the school’s 1,000 point club and her decision to play at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County at the next level.
Voting was introduced in the CPTV UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week poll in October of 2014. Since that time, over 70 winners have been crowned from 50 different towns. 250,000-plus votes have been cast in that time in support of our student-athletes recognized for their fine play on a weekly basis. Fans may participate in a given poll each Saturday at 6 p.m. until Monday night at 6 p.m.
