The Montville Indians fell one game short from capturing the Class M title last season, losing to the Sheehan Titans, 5-0. The Indians, who won last year’s Eastern Connecticut Conference tournament, finished the year with a 22-3 record. The Indians, led by senior pitcher Terry Bowens who finished last season with a 7-1 record on the mound, allowing nine earned runs and 35 strikeouts, open up the 2016 season as GameTime CT’s No. 5 team in the state.
As for the Waterford Lancers, whose title hopes ended early last season after losing to the St. Joseph Cadets, 3-2 in the Class M state playoffs, finished the year with a 21-3 record (two of their three losses came from Montville). Both teams squared off for all the marbles in the 2010 Class M title game, where the Indians escaped with a 6-4 victory.
