Justin Gallichio (P) – Northwest Catholic-West Hartford Baseball
The defending Class S champs could not have asked for a better start to their 2016 campaign! Senior ace Justin Gallichio threw a no-no on 93 pitches Friday in 2-1 victory over Granby Memorial.
Nick Morell – St. Paul Catholic-Bristol Baseball
The Sophomore hit a walk-off single to propel the Falcons to a 7-6 win over Terryville. Josh Kestenbaum of the Bristol Press reported that Morell was participating in just his third varsity game and delivered the winning hit on a 3-1 pitch. The final hit cemented a 3-run seventh inning, a comeback victory for the 3-0 Falcons.
Mike Burrows (G) – Waterford Baseball
The sophomore ace threw a complete-game, two-hitter to help Waterford improve to 3-0 on the season in a 10-1 hammering of Montville in the inaugural Spring Sprint Open, LIVE on CPTV Sports, Saturday. One of those two hits surrendered by Burrows was a towering home run hit by CCSU-bound T.T. Bowens of Montville. The sophomore struck out eight Indians hitters in the win. He also contributed an RBI double on offense. Catch the opening game of the inaugural Spring Sprint Open again, Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
Abby Abramson (P) – Cheshire Softball
The junior struck out 15 and allowed just one run on one hit and one walk in a masterful showing for Cheshire as the Rams knocked off Hand-Madison 7-1, Friday. Abramson also carried the Rams on offense, clubbing two homers in the victory.
Beth Fleming – Norwich Free Academy Softball
Junior Elizabeth Fleming struck out 17 batters and allowed just two hits in a 5-0 shutout of Waterford, Wednesday. According to Marc Allard of the Norwich Bulletin, Fleming struck out at least nine batters in-a-row at one point. She also hit an RBI single.
Raeanne Geffert (P) – Seymour Softball
The senior, perhaps Connecticut’s best pitcher, prove to be already in midseason form Friday as she tossed a perfect game Friday. The Wildcats nailed Derby 16-0. Geffert struck out 11. Watch Raeanne and Seymour take on defending Class M champs Oxford on CPTV Sports, Saturday at 7:30.
