Jack Duffy (P) – Stratford Baseball
The senior helped his team get to .500 (5-5) this past Monday, striking out nine and facing just 21 batters (the minimum) in a 2-0 shutout of Bethel. Duffy tossed a no-hitter and also tripled on offense.
Lexi Falcigno (3B/OF) - Branford Softball
She’s a freshman! Lexi hit for the cycle in a 20-5 win over Wilbur Cross-New Haven. She nabbed seven RBI in the 15-run blowout. This was the first win of the season for the Hornets (1-9).
Raeanne Geffert (P) - Seymour Softball
It was a phenomenal week for the fantastic senior who is heading to Bucknell in the fall. Raeanne K’d 18 and hurled a perfect game in a 9-0 win against Crosby-Waterbury, the Wildcats first game of the week. Then on Wednesday, She recorded her 100th career RBI in a 17-0 destruction of Kennedy. Her and younger sister Jenna combined on a no-no in the game.
Finally, in a game covered by CPTV Sports correspondent Aaron Johnson, Geffert struck out 17 Holy Cross batters and allowed just one hit for the 11-0 Wildcats. Raeanne has pitched and completed every inning for the Wildcats this season, allowing just one run.
Nicole Williams (P) – St. Joseph-Trumbull Softball
The senior struck out 14 in a 13-0 win over McMahon-Norwalk Friday. Williams tossed a perfect game in the win for the Cadets The very next day, Williams K’d 14 in a 5-0 win over Darien (11-1).
Cyrena Zemaitis (P) – Wamogo Regional Softball
The Warriors stunned perennial league power (and 2014 Class S champs) Thomaston 2-1 in 8 innings Friday. Zemaitis, a sophomore, carried the Warriors on both sides of the ball in this one: she pitched all eight innings and struck out 14, surrendering just one run on two hits. She was 2/4 with a triple, plating the winning run in Wamogo’s final turn at-bat. According to Rick Wilson of Litchfield County Sports, a 70-game Berkshire League win streak by Thomaston teams that feature senior Morgan Sanson (across 5 seasons) was snapped with the loss.
Raven Houck (C) - Wheeler-Stonington Softball
The 2015 all-state catcher hit FOUR home runs Saturday and collected 10 RBI in a 13-7 win against Windham. The senior Penn-commit hit the ultra-rare “home-run cycle”, according to The Day CT’s Chuck Banning: a grand-slam, three-run, two-run, and solo home run.
