Spencer Brown - Wilton track
The Georgetown University-bound senior set CIAC Class L state track meet records in the 800 and 1,600 meters, winning the 1,600 in 4:13:29. . .in the pouring rain! The senior’s 1,600 time was almost five second better than second-place Army Noonan of Darien. Dan Wilson held the previous record of 4:14:05 set in 1997. Spencer also won the 800 in 1:50.88, breaking the previous meet record set by Cas Loxsom of Wilbur Cross in 2008 by almost three seconds. Spencer is the top seed in the 800 and 1,600 in the State Open Monday June 8 — CPTV Sports will be there and show the broadcast premiere Saturday June 14 at 8:00pm.

Shane Harasyko – -Glastonbury boys volleyball
The 6-foor-6 middle hitter helped the Tomahawks advance to the Class L quarterfinals with 26 kills and 16 dig in a 3-0 first-round victory over Trumbull. Glastonbury lost 3-0 to No. 3 seed Shelton in the quarters as Harasyko finished a great season with over 220 kills and 134 digs.

Casey Harding – Cheshire softball
The senior captain hit her 10th homer of the season, a Cheshire single-season record, and was 3-for-4 with two RBI as the No. 2 seed Rams defeated No. 7 Norwich Free Academy 7-0 in the Class LL quarterfinals. Casey and fellow senior captain Olivia Odermatt have combined to hit 19 homers. Casey has recovered after tearing her ACL in a Powder Puff football game in November, missing only two games this season, and her comeback was profiled by The Hartford Courant’s Lori Riley. Cheshire meets No. 3 seed Darien in the Class LL semifinals Tuesday.

Kelsey Hopkins – Morgan-Clinton softball
With Morgan trailing Foran-Milford by a run in the bottom of the seventh, the junior outfielder delivered a two-run walk-off single to give the Huskies a 9-8 win wednesday in a first-round Class M game. Morgan advanced to the quarterfinals, where they lost 3-0 to top seed St. Joseph-Trumbull. Kelsey hit .296 this season with 13 RBI.

Connor Lewis – Waterford baseball
The 6-foot-3 senior righthander pitched a no-hitter June 3, striking out six for the No. 3 Lancers in a 1-0 shutout of No. 30 Bacon Academy-Colchester in a Class M first-round game. Connor hit a home run and had two RBI as the No. 3 Lancers were eliminated in the next round by St. Joseph-Trumbull 3-2.

Nic Vlaun – Norwich Free Academy baseball
The senior righthander pitched the state’s first perfect game of the season June 4 in a Class LL second-round game, striking out six in a 3-0 win over New Britain. Vlaun told the Norwich Bulletin’s Marc Allard “I got really nervous in the seventh inning, but I just came out and threw as I had all game.” NFA was ousted in the next round by Norwalk.
