Ian Shannonof Danbury High has been voted our sixth UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week of the fall!

Ian made three saves and and scored one of the goals in a penalty-kick shootout as Danbury stunned Suffield 2-1 (3-2 PK) in the CIAC Class LL boys soccer quarterfinals Nov. 7 in Suffield. Danbury advanced to the LL semifinals for the first time since 1998, losing to Farmington 1-0 in double-overtime Nov. 10.

Ian, a junior, has an 0.70 goals-against average this season. He has seven shutouts and averages 5.6 saves a game for Danbury, which finished 14-4-3. Shannon had two saves against Farmington..

Congrats to Ian, who joins Fairfield Warde girls soccer player Taylor Gabrenas, Cheshire girls volleyball player Jillian Haberli, Torrington boys soccer player Kevin Vaca, Cheney Tech-Manchester quarterback Rafael Lebron and Maloney-Meriden soccer player Ricardo Lopez as our UChoose honorees this fall.
