GameTime - new edition!
GameTime, a weekly half-hour look at sports throughout Connecticut hosted by WFSB-TV's Joe Zone and John Holt, is back for the 2013 state fall sports season. The new edition premiered Nov. 6 and will be replayed several times in upcoming days.
The No. 1 topic this week - who is the best high school football team in Connecticut? We'll talk with coach Lou Marinelli of New Canaan, whose team overtook Ansonia in the state media and coaches' polls this week. We'll talk with Rob Rafferty - a member of the New Haven County chapter of the National Football Foundation and director of New Haven's Floyd Little Athletic Center - and get his take on the Ansonia-New Canaan debate (you can follow Rob on Twitter @BRaff1575). We'll also reveal our own Connecticut Lighting Centers and Restoration Lighting Gallery GameTime football poll.
Our feature this week is on the inspiring story of Sheehan-Wallingford running back Rafael Dominguez, who weighed 2 pounds at his premature berth and is now one of the top running backs in the SCC.
We'll also wrap up the State Open cross country meet and talk with individual champs Christian Alvarado of Fairfiel Prep and Hannah Debalsi of Staples-Westport. Alvarado edged Ridgefield's Trevor Hopps in a photo finish; Debalsi is a sophomore. Read the Connecticut Post's State Open coverage here.
Joe and John will feature the best in Connecticut sports, from high schools and colleges to those Connecticut athletes who are excelling outside the state.
