Jasen Rose threw four touchdown passes and backup Luke Krochko threw two more as Southington High rallied and then held on to defeat Glastonbury 41-38 Sept. 12 in the season opener for the CCC football powers. CPTV Sports showed the game line on air and online and will show broadcast relays in upcoming days (Note: full online replay begins at 34:00 mark).
Southington, the top-ranked team in the GameTimeCT.com preseason state media poll, trailed 10-0 after the first quarter and 17-14 at halftime. The Knights rallied to take the lead in the third quarter, but Glastonbury bounced back with an interception and recovered fumble in the end zone for touchdowns.
Krochko (4-for-4 passing, 53 yards), who came in when Rose left the game with an injury, threw his scoring passes late in the third quarter and early in the fourth to give Southington the lead for good. The Tomahawks also capitalized on a negative-yards punt and another interception for scores.
Southington’s Alex Jamele and Kyle Borawski both had three touchdown catches, and Vance Upham ran for 174 yards on 16 carries for the Blue Knights.
