Fairfield Warde’s Taylor Gabrenas

Fairfield Warde girls soccer forward Taylor Gabrenas was our fall Week 3 award winner. Taylor, a junior (far right in photo), scored the winning goal with three minutes left in a 1-0 FCIAC win over New Canaan Sept. 26. The Mustangs are one of the top teams this season in the FCIAC and CIAC Class LL.

HS Girls Volleyball: Cheshire 3, Mercy 0

Jillian Haberli had 17 kills and 15 digs to lead Cheshire High to a 3-1 win over Mercy in an SCC girls volleyball match Sept. 29 in Middletown. CPTV Sports was there and will show the broadcast premiere Thursday Oct. 2 at 7:30pm, after the newest edition of GameTime.

Cheshire, which won by game scores of 25-10, 25-14, 20-25 and 25-20, improved to 8-0 despite dropping its first game of the season. Shytasia Williams had 17 digs and 10 kills for Mercy (6-2). Read the game story by Jim Bransfield of the Middletown Press here.

HS Football: Naugatuck 42, Holy Cross 7

Jason Bradley threw three first-half touchdown passes and Antoine Sistrunk ran for 140 yards and two TDs to lead host Naugatuck High to a 42-7 win over Holy Cross-Waterbury in an NVL football game Sept. 26. CPTV Sports was there and showed the game LIVE on-air and online.

Naugatuck (2-0) capitalized on three interceptions to take a 30-7 halftime lead. Holy Cross is 2-1. Read the game story by the Waterbury Republican-American’s Mark Jaffee here.

HS Boys Soccer: Montville 0, Waterford 0 (2OT)

Buddy Dewaine of Montville High had 11 saves and Waterford goalie Austin Schwartz also was perfect as the ECC Medium Divison boys soccer leaders played to a 0-0 tie Sept. 24. CPTV Sports was there and will show the broadcast premiere Saturday Sept. 27 at 6:30pm (note time change).

Montville is 5-0-1, 2-0-1; Waterford is 3-1-1, 2-0-1.

HS Girls Soccer: Northwest Catholic 4, Hall 3

Alicia Susi scored a late second-half goal to give Northwest Catholic a 4-3 victory over neighborhood rival Hall in a CCC West girls soccer game Sept. 23 in West Hartford. CPTV Sports was there and will show the broadcast premiere Saturday Sept. 27 at 8:30 p.m. and several more times in upcoming days (see replay dates below).

Rachel Elliott, Bailey Julian and Maddie Borowiec also scored for Northwest (5-1). Hannah Merritt, Melanie Binkhorst, and Kianna Alleyne scored for Hall (3-2-1) Goalies Becca Molin (Northwest) and Claudia Hess both had two saves.
