• Andrew Arena – Farmington Valley hockey
The junior forward’s game-winning OT goal gave the Farmington/Avon/Windsor co-op their second win of the hockey season Tuesday night, 1-0 over Hall/Southington.
•Sophie Borg – Farmington girls basketball
The senior forward made her season debut count Monday, scoring 28 points in an 83-71 for Farmington against Northwest Catholic. An undisclosed illness kept her out the first three games Coach Russ Crist told Derek Turner of GametimeCT.com “You just expect her to go out there and play well and not only did she live up to that, I thought she had a great game tonight. Finishing through contact, running the floor the entire game.” Turner reported Borg only participated in non-contact drills before last Monday.
•Jordon Fongemie - Conard-West Hartford
The junior forward has scored 10 goals in three games as Conard jumped out to a 3-0 start. Fongemie scored four goals against Northwest Catholic and had tricks vs. Trinity Catholic and Rockville/Bolton/Coventry as the Chieftains have outscored opponents, 20-2.
•Conor Harkins– Greenwich boys basketball
The sophomore guard sizzled from the three-point line against Woodstock Academy LIVE Friday night on CPTV Sports in a 60-37 win for the Cardinals in the semifinals of the first Centaur Holiday Classic.” He was 5-for-11 from beyond the arc and scored 20 points. Greenwich coach Pat Heaton told Marc Allard of the Norwich Bulletin “He’s as good a pure shooter as anyone I have ever coached.”
•Maggie Treacy– Canton girls basketball
The junior guard had a game-high 16 points and 13 steals as the Warriors improved to 4-0 Friday night in a 44-33 win over Windsor Locks in the East Lyme Holiday Classic.
•Zaire Wilson – Norwalk boys basketball
The senior forward had 28 points and eight rebounds in a 71-62 win over Bunnell-Stratford in the Masuk-Monroe Christmas Tournament. The Bears are 3-0 while Bunnell fell to 1-2. Bunnell of the SWC has played a tough out-of-conference slate which continues this Friday Jan. 2 as the Bulldogs host Crosby-Waterbury LIVE on CPTV Sports at 7.
