Led by two late first-half goals and a solid defensive performance, Northwest Catholic defeated host Middletown 2-1 to win the first CCC girls soccer tournament championship Oct. 30. Northwest Catholic (15-1-3) was trailing 1-0 with 2:13 left in the first half when the Indians’ Michy Medina collected a loose ball at the top of the box and beat Middletown goalie Desiree Hinton to make to make it 1-1. A minute later, Northwest took the lead when junior Madison Borowiec found junior Alicia Susi inside the box for a goal at the near post.
