Xavier High took a five-goal lead at halftime and fended off a Fairfield Prep comeback in the second half for a 13-8 victory in the SCC boys lacrosse tournament championship game May 28 at West Haven High. CPTV Sports streamed the game LIVE and will show the broadcast premiere Sunday May 31 at 8:30 p.m..
Wesley Reid, Chris Connelly and Colin McCarthy scored four goals each for second-seeded Xavier (15-3). Falcons goalie Zach Odell had 17 saves, eight days after Prep beat Xavier, 19-14.
Odell was strong in the first half, holding the Jesuits to one goal.
Prep closed to within three in the second half, with Cam Harris getting both his goals early in the fourth quarter to cut it to 8-5 with 7:57 left.
But the Falcons would not allow Prep (11-6) to get any closer. Xavier had a 43-32 edge in shots.
Colin Smalkais and John Edmonds also had two goals for Prep, which got 18 saves from Jack O’Connor.

Tom Schutz scored three goals to lead host Trumbull High to a 7-3 victory over Avon in a nonconference boys lacrosse game April 30. CPTV Sports was there and will show the broadcast premiere Monday May 4 at 8:00pm.
Shane Kertanis scored with 20 seconds left to give host Granby High an 11-10 boys lacrosse win over previously unbeaten Somers in an NCCC game April 28. CPTV Sports was there and will show the broadcast premiere Sunday May 3 at 7:30pm.
Somers (7-1) scored three consecutive goals, including one by Stephen Astone to tie it at 10 with three minutes left. But Granby and Kertanis capitalized on the man advantage after a late Somers penalty.
Granby (6-1) had two four-goal runs, taking a 4-2 lead in the first half and a 10-7 lead in the fourth quarter. Dominic Pagano scored four goals for Granby.
Sophomore Christian Paley had four goals and Astone two for Somers. Brandon Moore had 12 saves for Granby. Chris Allen had 13 for Somers.
Connor Martin scored five goals, including two in an early third-quarter run, as Joel Barlow High pulled away to defeat New Fairfield 14-9 in a boys lacrosse game April 14 in Redding. CPTV Sports was there and will show the broadcast premiere Friday April 17 at 7:30 p.m.
The score was tied at the half before Barlow (1-1) scored the first three goals of the second half, including two by Martin.
Tristan Green, Harry Wilson and Darian Cook all scored twice for Barlow, which outscored the Rebels 10-5 in the second half. Greg Fracassini had six saves for Barlow.
Steve Conrad scored thee goals and Matt Carlucci and Ryan Lewis had two apiece for New Fairfield (1-2, which got eight saves from Christian Benzing.

Ryan Corcoran scored seven goals and teammate Josiah Wilson added two goals and seven assists to lead St. Joseph’s-Trumbull to a 14-11 victory over Brookfield in the CIAC Class S boys lacrosse championship game June 14 at McMahon High in Norwalk. Greenwich jumped out to a four-goal lead in the first quarter and held off two Staples-Westport rallies for a 13-10 victory in the CIAC Class L final boys lacrosse final June 14 at McMahon High in Norwalk. CPTV Sports was there and will show the broadcast premiere Wednesday June 18 at 7:00pm
Second-seeded Greenwich, which won its first state lacrosse title, finished 20-3. Senior Luke Finneran had four goals and three assists, sophomore Will Perry a hat trick and senior Jamie Paradise two goals and three assists for the Cardinals, who led 6-4 at halftime. Simsbury, ranked sixth in the latest GameTimeCT.com state coaches/media poll, improved to 8-0. New Fairfield, which got two goals each from Jake Ryan and Ryan Lewis, is 3-7. The six overtimes were one short of the state record.
