HS Boys Basketball: LaSalle (RI) 78, Capital Prep-Hartford 44

Lawrence Sabir led four La Salle players in double figures with 19 points as the Rams of Providence, R.I., routed Capital Prep-Hartford 78-44 Dec. 26 in the first round of the Centaur Holiday Classic in Woodstock. CPTV Sports showed both games of the first round LIVE.

Defending Rhode Island Division I champion La Salle, which improved to 5-0 the next night as it defeated Greenwich 72-57 in the championship game, also got 10 assists from Sabir, who was named the tournament MVP. Emmitt Riddick had 25 for Capital Prep, which trailed 40-24 at halftime and 66-33 after three quarters. Riddick had 32 the next night as Capital Prep defeated host Woodstock 51-43 in the third-place game to improve to 3-1.
