Bryan Acevedo – Masuk-Monroe boys basketball
The senior guard and captain started Thursday’s SWC game at Weston 1-for-8 from the field, but led a 22-4 run at the end of the first half and finished with a game-high 34 points as the Panthers won 79-60. The game premieres on CPTV Sports Tuesday at 9:30pm.

Desiree Elmore – Capital Prep-Hartford girls basketball
Before a large Martin Luther King Day crowd at the University of Hartford’s Chase Family Arena, Desiree, a guard, scored a game-high 32 points with nine rebounds as then-No. 2 Prep routed No. 1 Mercy-Middletown 88-48. CPTVSports.org will have special profile of the much-anticipated showdown this week.

Mustapha Heron – Sacred Heart-Waterbury boys basketball
The junior guard - who has committed to the University of Pittsburgh - scored a game-high 46 points Friday, including 15 in the third quarter (three threes and five shots in a row, as reported by the Waterbury Republican-American’s Joe Palladino), as No. 1 Sacred Heart handed Naugatuck its second loss, 88-59.

Chris Jean-Pierre – Valley Regional-Deep River boys basketball
The senior forward, who helped lead Valley to a state football title in December, had a triple-double (13 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists) in a 59-44 win over North Branford Friday.

Joe Tamburro – South Windsor boys basketball
The senior guard had 42 points, including the game-winning three-pointer in overtime (one of his six threes), to give South Windsor (6-4) a 72-71 win over East Hartford Thursday.

Eddie Volkerts – Fitch-Groton boys basketball
The junior forward had 21 points, 18 rebounds, five assists and five steals to lead Fitch (9-2) to a 66-51 win over Killingly.
