For one weekend in September, the cycling world turned its attention to Hartford and the Connecticut Cycling Festival. Some of the best professional and amateur cyclists come to Hartford for the season’s most anticipated late-season race events on Sept. 20-21.
CPTV Sports is proud to partner with the Connecticut Cycling Advancement Program and show the broadcast premiere of our coverage of the event Thursday Oct. 2 at 9:00pm.
The one-hour program will highlight the 50-mile criterium through the streets of Hartford. The show will also feature pieces highlighting the status of biking in Connecticut and the preparation that goes into putting on a large event such as this.
The event featured professional races, amateur competitions and 45- and 100-mile recreational rides. Repeat airings are Sunday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m., Wed. Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 10 at 4 p.m. It’s also available on YouTube (above).
“We were so excited to be able to cover the Connecticut Cycling Festival this year,” said Bob Yalen, director of CPTV Sports. “In addition to the race coverage, we’ve included in-depth interviews, cycling tips and more in the show, which we think will really excite cycling fans.”
The Connecticut Cycling Festival is the cornerstone event of the CCAP, whose goal is to see youth and the sport of cycling thrive in the United States. While focused on Connecticut, the CCAP is creating a model to share with the rest of the country. Every year the Connecticut Cycling Festival brings professional and amateur cyclists to downtown Hartford for a variety of cycling and non-cycling events.
